The author of the Letter to the Hebrews has a great deal to teach us about faith and how faith works in the life of a servant of God. In 11.10-12 we read: For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Is there anything God cannot do for us? When we move in faith it does not take long to discover just how far our Lord is willing to go to bring us into his full blessings.
Look at Abraham and Sarah, who were many decades beyond the appropriate age for having children, but were brought into parenthood because God wanted their inheritance to belong to their own children: By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren; It is not surprising to hear Sarah laughing within her tent when she heard that message. God moved in power toward their faith.
And the entire matter was brought to a successful completion simply because Abraham believed that God was truthful when he spoke that promise into his heart. Abraham: was enabled to become a father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise. Those of us who seek to be faith-filled must begin to move into that measure of faith, believing that when God speaks it is absolutely true for us.
The promise of God when moved on by us in faith proves to be of much more value than the initial word: And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore. Those of us who follow Jesus Christ are among the heirs of Abraham because of our faith in Jesus. What a joy to know that Abraham agreed with God.
