The apostle Paul shares a few words about the weapons of Christian warfare and how those are to be used most effectively. In 2 Corinthians 10.5-6 Paul shares with us how the weapons will be used:  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, This has very little to do with us at all because it is God the enemy is trying to remove from the scenes of life.

But then we read of one of the most important aspects of doing battle as a soldier for the Lord Jesus Christ—we have to bring our own thinking into right alignment with the mind of Christ:  and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. It is only when we have come into proper thinking that we will then be able to release truth into the lives of those to whom we are being sent.

When we have taken care of our own shortcomings we are then able to move in power for the total transformation of the lives of others:  And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, As warriors for Christ Jesus we must be willing to pay the price for our own shortcomings in the hopes that we will then be able to successfully impart the power of God’s truth into other lives. There are no shortcuts!

Once our obedience is completed we are then usable by God to call others into that same level of obedience:  once your obedience is complete. But a faithful warrior for Christ will never negate a proper level of preparedness before battle. One must know the truth as God has delivered it, to be willing to own that truth, to allow that truth to determine victory, and be transformed by that truth. Only then can we win!
